Yes it is quite true that you will be able to find lots of information about gum health over the internet. Sometimes it can even be misleading. For a simple problem, they can exaggerate till cancer. So we have to be very careful while reading information from any online source. And most of the content writers who write things online are paid to write so they may not even be professionals who work in that area or field to be able to provide proper legitimate information. Coming back to your question about bleeding gums, I would like to suggest a few methods and homemade remedies that I usually prefer doing when I have gum problems.
I have a common wisdom tooth problem. I have not removed it yet because I don't find it really comfortable to remove teeth. For me, the wisdom tooth is growing in the right direction but it is not having enough space to grow bigger and my jaw bone is restricting it from growth. I usually have an ache in the wisdom tooth region once a month or two months once. The reason is that my tooth tries to grow and hits the bone region which causes pain. I just withstand the pain and don't prefer going to doctor or get it removed. I wanted to leave it naturally. I have also read that every tooth in our mouth is connected to different organs in the body and they are very important for a healthy organ. I'm not sure how true this information is but I still find it to be convincing.
So, whenever I get tooth ache when my wisdom tooth hits the jaw bone, there will be swelling in the gums. Due to continuous usage of the gums, while eating, they even start bleeding. There are a few things that I usually do to take care of this problem.
Salt water gargling
This is one of the best treatment for any problems related to gums. Not just gums but for even sour throat salt water gargling is considered to be one of the best remedies. When ever I have my gums bleeding, I gargle with salt water frequently several times a day. This sometimes even gives immediate relief. I usually do this even when I bite my skin by mistake. Biting the skin is quite common for me because I have an irregular tooth arrangement in my mouth. So I use salt water gargling to wash my mouth frequently. As you might be aware, an infected gum can even lead to mouth ulcers. Salt water is capable of preventing the gums from bacterial or fungal infections.
Clove to reduce pain
If you have your tooth or gums region paining along with bleeding, one great solution would be to use clove to reduce the pain. You can just bite a cove in the affected region and keep it for some time. The extracts from clove will fall on the tooth and gums to reduce the pain. It also acts as local anaesthesia reducing the pain temporarily. I have also heard that clove has healing capabilities as well.
Brush frequently
Whenever I have any problems with my gums or tooth, I make sure I brush frequently compared to the normal brushing that I do every day. Every time after a meal I brush once to make sure there are not food particles left in the affected region that can complicate the infection in the gums. Another reason why brushing frequently helps is that the paste that I use is a pure herbal paste and it is with a composition of so many natural herbs that can heal dental problems. I even prefer applying paste to the affected region and let it help to heal.
Let it heal without disturbing it
Sometimes when I'm used to this dental problems and bleeding gums, I don't plan to do anything more. I just let it heal by itself. Our saliva itself contains enzymes that is capable of healing infections. The saliva also has anti bacterial properties helping in automatic healing. I make sure I don't chew any food from the affected side of the mouth, other than that I don't really take any steps or measure to address the issue and it automatically settles after few days. A simple good sleep sometimes helps in settling the problem by itself.
Though I have mentioned many home remedies that I follow for bleeding gums and other tooth problems, I highly recommend visiting a dentist if things are not working for you. Home based remedies will not work for all the dental problems. Sometimes there can be complications which can be cured only by proper medication. I will let you take the wise decision.
