This is a grasshoppers that suddenly entered to my house and without waiting for a long time I captured it with my cellphone. And now i want to explain a little bit more about this insect.

Grasshoppers

Grasshoppers are herbivorous insects from the suborder Caelifera in the Orthoptera order. This insect has an antenna that is almost always shorter than its body and also has a short ovipositor. Sounds generated by some grasshopper species are usually produced by rubbing the femur behind it against the front wing or abdomen (called stridulation), or because of flapping its wings while flying. The back femur is generally long and strong which is suitable for jumping. These insects are generally winged, although their wings sometimes cannot be used to fly. Female grasshoppers are generally larger than male grasshoppers.

Grasshoppers are winged insects, but they rarely fly, they prefer to use their strong hind legs as a support for jumping. The grasshopper can jump 20 times its own length. If you or I can do that, we will be able to jump nearly 40 meters! A grasshopper doesn't really 'jump'. What they do is use their feet as slingshots. Grasshoppers can jump and fly well and they can reach speeds of 8 miles per hour while flying.

Grasshoppers are insects that we encounter very often in the garden, in the fields and even in our school yard. Many children like to catch grasshoppers to be used as toys, some catch them to be used as food for consumption. Grasshoppers live in fields, grasslands and almost anywhere they can find large amounts of food to eat, grasshopper's favorite food is grass and leaves. They eat so much, an average grasshopper can eat 16 set its own weight.

So that is a little explanation about grasshoppers that i know, and i hope this information will be useful for all of you. Thank you for stooping and read my blog. Happy great weekend for you.

Regard,
@tjoet
