It's back!!! The world's most iconic map in multiplayer history! De_dust2!!! Every gamer and maybe some non-gamers would instantly recognize the sandy dune-like map. As various versions emerged, dust 2 is always the most played map on Counterstrike. It is created by David Johnston.
Sadly, it was taken down from the Pro scene a few years back but still remain available to be played in CSGO. Reasons of it being taken down were unknown until they announced it is in the remake and fans were happy!
The map is themed in the middle east, hence it's sandy textures and environment. It is also the successor for the first map de_dust.

The mode of this map is called bomb defusal. Where the Terrorist side, would have access to two bombsites which are called bombsite A & B. haha duh.... Where as the Counter-Terrorism side would have to defend these bombsite from the Terrorist to get their bomb planted.
Sounds easy for the defenders? Not really, as you venture into the pro scene, de_dust2 has been designed to perfection where many strategies can be used by the T to get the bombsite planted. On the other hand, the CT side also have their bunch of strategies if ever something were to happen.
Without proper teamwork and strategy from either side would definitely cost you the round almost definitely. That is why de_dust 2 remains so popular among the pros and casual players. The map is easy to learn and picked up by any newbie who comes into the game.
Why is de_dust2 so popular?

The map dust2 is created in accordance to the simplest shape of all time. The square. As it balances out the distance of the T side and the CT side. both have the equal advantage to succeed in their objective in this map.
When dust 2 was created, it was carefully designed to have every angle covered and along the way, as dust 2 gets updated from time to time from CS1.6 to CS:Condition Zero to CS:Source and then to CSGO(present). Tweaks have been made to have a fair structure on the map for both sides.

The map is so balance on de_dust2 that the team with the better communication, tactics and skill will always win.
Ever since this iconic map came out on March 13, 2001, games/mapmakers all over have tried to design a map that is the ideal 'dust2' for their games. Some even add mods of the map into other games.

Terrorist spawn point
The Terrorist will spawn and have direct vision of the middle part of the map towards double-doors. This is a very crucial vision to see are there any crossings from the CT spawn to bombsite B. Players can even snipe another player through the small gap between the doors.
This middle part of the map is usually being controlled as tight as possible to be able to allow quick rotations or to scout enemy movements. you will have access directly to bombsite A and B from here. Decided by team captain.
The ramp going towards tunnel which will access to bombsite B. Players can scout movements in the tunnel from the higher vantage point.
Another perspective outside tunnels
T spawn A side. This can lead to A door => A long => Bombsite A or leading to middle map and have access to A short or B tunnels.
A doors, becareful not to be fragged by grenades here!
Here, you will have sight of A long towards bombsite A.
This steep ramp is called 'pit'. Players often defend (if you're CT) any enemies that are coming out of A door. Take cover(if you're T) without having your full body expose, but still being able to have a full view of A long and part of bombsite A.
This is BOMBSITE A, where Ts can come from A short(right side of the map) and A long(left side)
This is known as A short, usually one CT would be here to scout enemies moving about mid lane. And retreats as soon as he figures out their plan.
Mid door. You can have a guy standing behind the doors to hear any footsteps of the enemies and report them to the team. Do not stand right behind the door, because you can be hit through the wall by bullets.
This is CT spawn point heading towards bombsite B.
Bombsite B, a little tighter bombsite than A.
Tactical grenade throws are very crucial here to defend or for the T to enter.
Tunnels have the access to bombsite B and mid lane. It is separated into two parts. Upper tunnels & lower tunnels.
Lower tunnels looking out to mid lane and mid doors.
