Ask Google
This is a very popular phrase these and to be honest most people don't understand that even tho it might he said out of spite or sarcasm it's actually one of the best advice.
A lot of people don't even understand google.
Google is a very very large enterprise that comprises of alot of "applications" which include but not restricted to
- A search engine
- Email server
- A cloud service
Google is even the owner of the android operating system.
When someone says "ask Google " he is referring to the search engine. And contrary to some beliefs it is not a huge store of information that can answer any question you ask.
Rather think of it as an office clerk that helps you find whatever document you are looking from amongst an entire room full of cabinets with documents. Instead of having to search each document one by one it brings out documents that contains a key word you specify thereby narrowing your search....
In the same light, when you search something on google it combs through the entire internet for web files that contain the words you searched. In recent times, google has implemented algorithms that doesn't just search based on word match but also based on correlation but that is all technical bruhaha....
Anyway. If you have ever had to do an assignment of which you had no clue about or you wanted to learn something or get some information then you would appreciate the gift of the google search engine.
Of course it is not the only existing search engine but in my opinion it is by far the most effective.
So today i am grateful for google search engine. I can honestly say i owe a large chunk of what i have learnt over the years skill-wise to google.
From graphics design to my undergraduate project to web development to programming to data science and now down to my Post graduate Thesis that i am currently working on. I recently discovered a very handy research tool from google again and that is
scholar.google.com
It is a search engine but specifically used when you are looking for research journals and publications (peer reviewed or otherwise). It has been a tremendous help.
This gratitude is not just for the search engine alone but also the cloud service called google drive which is a very easy and quick way to store and share files.
