Geology: Hawaiian volcanoes - Part 7: Recent eruptions

Original post by @sooflauschig

The written history of Hawai'i only exists for roughly 200 years. This is a relatively short time compared to other areas with volcanic activities. The first American missionaries visiting the islands in 1823 started recording eruptions. Reports of earlier eruptions are based on the interpretations of Hawaiian stories. All recent eruptions have been at Mauna Loa or Kīlauea. On average the two volcanoes tend to erupt every two or three years. This makes them one of the most frequently active volcanoes in the world.

Ecology: Green energy of the sea currents. The energy of the future?

Original post by @ufv

This time, I bring you an excellent information of the other side of the coin: the benefits that are obtained thanks to the optimal use of the environment; generating useful resources for humanity, protecting the environment and helping subsistence of the planet. I am referring to the Generation of clean or green energy, as it is also known, obtaine...

Archeology: Gobekli Tepe: 8,000 Years Older Than the Great Pyramids at Giza

Original post by @rettigphotos

Gobekli Tepe, found in modern day Turkey, is a site that is currently being excavated by archaeologists. The site has been dated to be from around the 10th millennia BCE, which means it is almost 8,000 years older than sites like Stonehenge and the great pyramids at Giza. This means that the site would have had to have either been built by hunter-gatherers, which before was thought impossible, or our entire account of our human timeline throughout history is wrong.
