Natural Aerosol

Natural Aerosol

One of the most controversial topics of modern science has returned to the center of attention after the recent massive volcano eruption on Bali. About 25 years ago, the Filipino volcano known as Pinatubo erupted so hard that it created a natural aerosol. That was the moment in which people understood the possibilities of geoengineering and started off with a dirty campaign of promoting global warming, thus giving the excuse to sow aerosol and poison people.

Since large volcano eruptions naturally cause climate change, scientists from NASA decided to study them. One of the methods of geoengineering is the distribution of chemicals similar to those that eject the volcano to influence the atmosphere. In order to gain a more precise insight into the chemical process of aerosol production and influence on global temperature, scientists must study active volcanoes.

Long term Research

What scientists want to discover is the amount of sulfur dioxide volcano erupts during the first few weeks or before the gas is combined with water vapor to create reflective aerosols.

According to a scientific statements, at the beggining of the whole proces they will collect informations with balloons, but if needed NASA will intervene with special aircrafts. Such a plan would, if you ask Jack Kyle, the NASA's director of Earth Science Development Assistant, demand for large-scale redirection of resources that are otherwise used for other researches. So we can see how important it is, al least for them.

Part of the scientific community believes that salvation lies precisely in geoengineering, while others believe that artificial climate management can lead to unforeseen and potentially dangerous phenomena in the climate. Guided by internal logic, I doubt their intentions are good, it is obvious that global warming and panic around it are widening so that spraying around can be implemented and justified.

Debate

Science magazine has recently released two papers dealing with two more significant segments of geoengineering: the modification of cirrus, the high clouds, and the injection of sulfur into the atmosphere. The authors of both papers say that such approaches are very risky and, most importantly, very far from the possibilities of performance. They also quote and hope that such approaches will never be necessary.

The authors Ulrike Lohmann and Blaž Gasparina explore in their study the possibility of controlling the climate on Earth by modifying the clouds. One of the best-researched segments in terms of geo-engineering is injecting special aerosol particles into the stratosphere, enabling the reflection of solar radiation back into the universe. Climate engineering described by authors on the other hand would actually deal with cirrus, ie by targeting OLR (Outgoing Longwave Radiation), the thermal radiation emitted by Earth.

Lonhmann and Gasparini are elaborating methods by which Cirrus the highest cloud, would be even more permeable - thus ensuring better cooling of the Earth. This should be done by placing miniature particles directly into the cirrus in order to brake or dilute them. There are many risks - and some of them include unwanted new cirus where they have not existed before, so global warming will only worsen.

Simulate volcanoes!

Achieving the Paris Agreement's aim to limit the global temperature increase to at most 2°C above preindustrial levels will require rapid, substantial greenhouse gas emission reductions together with large-scale use of “negative emission” strategies for capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air (1). It remains unclear, however, how or indeed whether large net-negative emissions can be achieved, and neither technology nor sufficient storage capacity for captured carbon are available (2). Limited commitment for sufficient mitigation efforts and the uncertainty related to net-negative emissions have intensified calls for options that may help to reduce the worst climate effects (3). One suggested approach is the artificial reduction of sunlight reaching Earth's surface by increasing the reflectivity of Earth's surface or atmosphere..

The authors of this research claim that is only a hypothetically drastic intervention, which would be used if needed. So they want to simulate volcanic eruptions. Namely, when volcano erupts, particles, gas and substances are being released into atmosphere among which sulfur is the most interesting one. Sulfur clouds reflect more solar radiation in the atmospehre if compared with normal clouds, thereby achieving cooling of Earth. It was matematically elaborated on how much would the simulation of sulfur injection cost - around 20 billion per year, with a total of 6,700 injections in the atmosphere.

In short, I tried to be as objective as possible and to show how are they trying to implement geoengineering as a necessary strategy in struggle against climate changes. Pretty ironic, right? Given to all what i've mantion we can clearly see that geoengineering will become elits greatest tool of running a new world order. Accepted by the people and justified by the law, what else do they need?
