Hello, hive world!
This past week I decided to join the international event of creating a videogame from scratch in only 48 hours, the Global Game Jam. A unique experience I've been craving my whole life only I didn't know anything about it, until now.
This massive event consists of creating a brand new videogame by a team of 4-5 people based on a secret theme carefully selected each year and only revealed minutes before the event starts.
This year's secret theme was 'Lost and Found'.
I got my team ready, conformed by people I was first meeting at that same moment, and decided to create a game about a loner teenage boy locked out in a house that refused to let him go until he found the parts of himself lost along the way of an impaired relationship with his parents.
Since I was the only artist on the team, designing the main character was my task, and here it is.
A boy named Abraham confined in a house full of spirits he had to fight using a flashlight.
This was merely a sketch, only an exploration of how the character will look like. Later I had to adapt this design to a miniature version of it that would represent the properly moving character in the videogame.
It was intended to make the initial phase of the videogame almost black and white, with cold tones and a lonely atmosphere, but the same would slowly increasing in color at the same time Abraham would collect back the pieces of himself.
So I had to make a cold version of Abraham and a warm final healed version, as well.
I'm happy to affirm that maybe I finally found what I want to make for a living :)
