My cane shone off the sunlight above our heads, as if I were crossing water. It felt as if maybe, for a moment, every inch of my legs, arms, and torso were swimming, even though you couldn't see them. I looked down, to see nothing but white. The morning light hit the dew that clung to the blades of grass, and the ground looked as if it were carved in platinum. There were clouds to the East, so they were a muted purple, while the already dark ones in the West were painted on with a golden brush. As I looked at it, the entire world, it seemed, was nothing but gold, gold, and even more gold.
After a moment, I looked back up, and over my head, the sky changed to a bluer color, and the sun cast my shadow downward. It was strange, because I just didn't feel anything like I had been before. I looked to the left, then the right, as if I was checking to make sure I was okay.
While I did this, I felt myself dragging my feet, and I looked down. My feet were being pulled deep into the white, soft, and pure. I looked at my shadow, and saw the water in it get pulled back to me.
I stepped back, and a small smile crept up my face. I looked right and left, examining the water that was draining back to me. Though there was only a small part left to be taken, I could see my shadow through the water. The water now felt like it was pulling back at my shadow.
I smiled and took another step back, and the water started to drain like a waterfall. At first, it went very slow, and I began to take several more steps backward. It stopped, and now my shadow no longer lie in the water, but in front of it. It looked strange, but I couldn't say why, so I stepped over it.
Within moments, the water was forced into a huge stream, and water started to flow across me. The stream formed into a small lake. I looked down, and saw the rays of sunlight through the water, reflecting back up toward me.
The rays hit me in the eyes and caused my eyes to close. I felt a sensation of coolness around me, but I was moving. I opened my eyes and found myself on a small pan of land, surrounded by the water I had been standing in. If there were land around the lake, I never saw it, because my eyes were closed. I opened them again and shut them again, and could only see, the white.
I opened my eyes, feeling how my muscles were relaxed and loose. My heart was beating quickly, and I was scared of looking down. I noticed my shadow on the ground, and how my cane was underwater, still shining in the sunlight. I thought about this, and decided, okay, if I shouldn't be in my slippers, then I should be barefoot.
I tried to stand up, but I could feel something holding me down. I tried to move, but my muscles wouldn't respond to my brain. I looked down and saw that something was holding me down, and at first I tried wiggling away from it. But then, I realized I couldn't move very well. I could move my arms and legs, but it was in a sluggish, slow motion.
I suddenly remembered why I couldn't stand up. I felt my muscles move, and I looked down. I couldn't see much of my body, but I could tell that something was very wrong. I could only see two of my legs, and when I looked down again, I could see another leg upside down. Then, I felt something move around one of my legs, and when I looked down, I could see a leg going out and up, as if it were trying to grab onto something, but there was nothing to grab onto. I had no feet, just legs.
I looked down, to see my eyes looking to the side of my head, so I could see myself from my perspective. I started to scream and then stopped. I could see myself looking forward, but my lungs wouldn't let me scream. My mouth was covered, along with my eyes and everything else. I was completely surrounded by whiteness, and I was bound tightly. I was concealed in a cocoon, and everything was white.
I shook my head and then suddenly everything slipped away. I was in a white, pure room. Every inch of it was sparkling white, like the purest ivory. The air was white and clean, and it seemed that the entire room was made out of light. There was nothing in the room, not a desk nor a bed to sleep on. I couldn't find the door or any windows. Along the walls, it was blank, but the ceiling had something. There was a dark figure. I couldn't make out who it was or what it was, but it was an outline of a man. He had a large face, with a pointed nose, a small chin, and no hair. He had large ears, and the right one was pierced, and there was an ear covering over it. His shoulders were broad, and he was thick and large. His eyes were wide open and ahead, staring at nothing.
I tried to reach my hands out to see if he looked down, but they would not move up. I coughed, and a strange sound came out. I was drowning in the whiteness, and I started to lose my vision, but I could still hear the sound of my own breath and heart. The walls, ceiling, and floor rose up around me, and I could not move anymore. I tried to feel around, but I didn't have control of my body anymore.
Over the next thirty minutes, my vision grew dimmer, and my heat started to slow down.
