Late Summer Parsley Bloom
Right now our garden herbs and the like are all trying to go to seed. We have had some rainy weather in the spanish mountains, which makes the nights cool, and the plants have all started in on winter prep. Well this just won´t do! We have too much of the summer season left! Nip the tip where the flower buds are forming to keep the plant from seeding so early in the season. Below is an example of my parsley that has sprouted flower stalks. The stalk will flower and then produce seeds. Once a plant starts to produce seeds they will reduce the amount of ¨produce¨ that you can get from them, i.e. once the parlsey starts to flower it will reduce the amount of leaves that it puts out in expectation of the winter, the leaves are the part of the plant that we like to eat.
