First Person Shooter, also known as FPS. An exhilarating game genre that tests your aiming skills, information processing skills and reflex to its highest peak. FPS, as the game genre's called, is a shooting game composed of different types of guns and utilities such as grenades (flashbangs, smoke grenades, etc.) and abilities (shields, heal, etc.). Utilities are different in every game, so it requires adaptability skills.
Overview
There are tons of FPS games up to date such as Counter Strike (v1.3, v1.6 and Global Offensive), Half-life, Overwatch and Paladins. But there's this one game freshly made by Riot Games, famous for creating a high-rating game called League of Legends, this year 2020 and titled it VALORANT. A 5 vs 5 FPS game where characters are called Agents and each agent has different abilities such as Phoenix's hot hands (3rd ability), Sage's heal (3rd ability) and many more. (Note: I'll dedicate a different blog for the agents and agents' abilities.)
The game is very simple to understand. There are two sides in each game: the attacking side and defending side, in which each side have different objectives, on clash with the opposite side. By default, you have the "Classic" pistol and a knife. There are different guns (Note: I'll also dedicate a different blog for the guns) that you can play. Play around your economy to be able to buy better guns. There's this "Spike", unique on the attacking side, functioning as C4 that is planted on a site. If you die by any means, you lose your gun. Otherwise, you reacquire your gun.
How to win a round in Valorant?
To win on attacking side, these are the objectives:
- Plant the spike and let it explode. If you die in the explosion, you still win even if your wiped-out.
- Exterminate the defenders.
To win on defending side, these are the objectives:
- Defend every site to prevent the attackers from planting the spike.
- When the time runs out or if you obliterate the attackers.
- If attackers was able to plant, defuse the spike before it explodes. (It takes around 4 seconds to defuse.)
Game Feature
There are 4 different MAPS available this current date, June 2020.
1.) Bind. It has no middle and has teleporters.
3.) Split. It has a lot of ropes and has a tower, vital to watch when attacking and a must to position in in defending.
4.) Ascent. It is a small map and has 2 bomb doors in each site.
Riot also added LORE for the players who loves story-based game.
VALORANT is set in a near-future version of Earth, and the game environment succeeds the First Light event. It isn’t clear yet whether this event was connected to alien phenomena, a natural disaster, or the product of human engineering gone wrong.
This event spans the entire globe, transforming everyday life, technology, and government operations. The aftermath of the event causes certain people worldwide to gain abilities, and become gifted individuals known as Radiants.
A shadow organisation named the VALORANT Protocol is formed in response to First Light, pulling together Agents, including Radiants, and other individuals equipped with Radiant technology.
Each Agent or character on the VALORANT team has a different background, from crime to the military. This varied backdrop will surely produce some interesting dynamics in-game, and in the lore itself, as we are given more of the narrative to sink our teeth into. Not only are the characters widely diverse, in some cases their paths have crossed in the past, allowing for new webs to be woven.
There are 2 different game modes available as of today: The Unranked and the Spike Rush. Unranked is just a classic game of Valorant where you win the game if you win 13 rounds. Around the map there is an orb point that charges a point on your ultimate ability. While in Spike Rush has a different twist. The classic rules also applies to Spike Rush but you win in 4 rounds only and the game decides which gun you play. Orbs are 9 different orbs that you can pick up:
- Ultimate Orbs. It charges ultimate abilities to whom who got it.
- Paranoia/Deception Orbs. Enemies become nearsighted.
- Golden Gun Orbs. Give you a one-shot kill gun. Only has 2 bullets but recharges when you get a kill.
- Gun Upgrade Orbs. Lets you have a better gun.
- Damage Amplification Orbs. Increases your damage.
- Decay Orbs. Decays enemy health by 90 over time.
- Health Orbs. Gives Instant Healing Regeneration to all teammates.
- Combat Stim. Increase combat power to you and allies.
There are also a Practice mode for training and a Custom mode for tournaments or fun games with friends.
Also, this coming patch, v1.02, Valorant will have the Ranked game mode. Here are the Riot Official Ranks.
And a new orb on Spike Rush called Tracker Orbs. It reveals enemies for. 0.75 seconds and a wall-bang buff (damage when hitting an enemy through walls).
To be honest, I'm excited for the upcoming patch since Ranked will be released. Definitely playing that game mode.
