Any of you Borderlands fans would know that Gearbox confirmed Borderlands 3 for us in the near future last week. I happened to tune in to the livestream, and while they ran into some technical difficulties, it didn't take away from the excitement of arguably one of the most anticipated titles of this decade.
Among Gearbox's presentation, they showcased a few other games on Gearbox Publishing, one of which being 'Risk Of Rain 2'. The coolest part about this specific reveal was the fact that the game was out immediately as of their presentation. The game looked awesome, so I picked it up.
So far, 'Risk of Rain 2' has been my go-to game for post-work, after hours gaming. The rogue-like, survival-style, looter shooter is perfect for killing an hour (if you can make it that long).
Where so many new games are intricately built to control/balance the level of power you can actually obtain, RoR2 differentiates by giving you a seemingly unlimited amount of potential as a character. The game sometimes feels broken, but in an amazingly calculated, strategic, and intentional way, almost emulating the games of old where exploiting bugs and oversights was a fun part of the experience. The graphics are simple but aesthetically pleasing, leaving plenty of room for bullet-hell insanity.
Below is my personal best run so far (my final scoreboard and a video of the last few levels I survived), making it 19 stages and racking up a score of almost 2 million, before falling victim to what was really sleep deprivation. If you haven't checked it out yet, I'd highly recommend it!
