The Feebas event that was announced last week to take place this Saturday, January 19, is apparently going to be part of a greater Hoenn region celebration event! Starting this January 15 at the usual times of event starts, and when Heatran is set to depart from Raids, the event will start. It'll last until January 29.
Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region will appear more frequently in the wild. I'm looking forward to having the chance to find a good Ralts. This will also be an ideal time to try and get good IVs for the Hoenn starters already. With Totodile being the last Johto starter to be featured in a Community Day, I'm pretty sure that the Hoenn starters, Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip, will get their own Community Days sometime this year too!
Field Research quests will mostly feature Pokémon from the Hoenn region during this event. With a focus on only Feebas Saturday, January 19, during the same hours as a Community Day. The 7 km eggs you can receive from gifts from friends will have an increased chance of hatching Pokémon from the Hoenn region. If this means that Baby Pokémon, except for those from Hoenn, will not be available during that event is something I don't know yet. It seems like Niantic really likes using the 7 km eggs as a way to make Pokémon hatch in an event. Rather than increasing those Pokémon 's chances of hatching in their 2, 5 or 10 km eggs. In my opinion this does give people a more equal chance of hatching Pokémon from those eggs. As they are not dependant on RNG for the 5 and 10 km eggs. As the chances to get a 10 km egg aren't that high.
When you evolve Shroomish into Breloom during the event it will learn the exclusive move Grass Knot. I will definitely aim to do this, as I have never even evolved a Shroomish into Breloom. In fact I didn't have Breloom registered in my Pokédex until a few days ago. I did not encounter a wild Breloom yet, and never felt like evolving my Shroomish despite having a 96% IV one. So last week when I didn't use the previous day's free Raid Pass yet, I decided to do a nearby Breloom raid after we took over the Houten Schip Gym with our team. Which registered it in my Pokédex! That screenshot kinda failed so I couldn't include it unfortunately. The other two Shroomish in my list are from my vacation in Albania. I'll find someone who has two Shroomish to trade for those.
Some new Shiny Pokémon will also be added to the game with this event. The teaser image from Niantic includes those that are getting their Shiny form added. The ones getting their Shiny added to the game are Zigzagoon and Tailow! With Linoone and Swellow also getting their Shiny form then of course.
Raid Battles will also feature Hoenn Pokémon. So you can be certain that Breloom will remain in Raids too, but it'll be better to catch a good Shroomish and evolve it if you want a good Breloom with Grass Knot. As the Raid Boss Breloom will likely not know that move! As for the Legendary Raids, Kyogre and Groudon will be making a return! This is going to be great as I lack a lot of candy to further power up my 98% Groudon and 96% Kyogre. I'll even have a small chance of getting a higher one. There has been no word of Shiny Groudon yet though. With Kyogre having its Shiny in the game already since the last time it returned, I'd say there is quite a chance for Groudon to get its Shiny form added too.
Due to playing Pokémon Ruby and Emerald as a kid, when I hear about Kyogre and Groudon I immediately think about Team Aqua and Team Magma. These two Teams are not forgotten with the event. As Team Aqua and Team Magma inspired avatar items will be available in the style shop.
I'm really looking forward to be able to do Raids against Kyogre and Groudon again! I'll also be on the lookout for another great Ralts. Which Pokémon from Hoenn are you looking forward to the most with the increased spawns?
