Counter Strike : Global Offensive
ABOUT THE GAME:
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 14 years ago.
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust2, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."
The most popular game of Counter-Strike. At the beginning of each round, players can buy weapons and equipment from earned money from a variety of actions, from assisting in killing to performing a complete task. Regardless of the type of mission, the round ends when a team completes missions, eliminates another team or their expiration time. If time expires before goals are over, a team that does not need to finish goals is a winner.
Is there going to be a new Counter Strike Game after GO?
Maybe… It depends on a few things.
At Valve, everything is employee driven. Every desk has wheels on it so that employees can move their desk over to be with the rest of the group that is working on the same game as them, at the moment. However, Counter Strike seems to be a dying interest at Valve. They are having trouble performing bug fixes and such in a timely manner.
However, it is very likely that we will eventually get a new Counter Strike game. It is just important to remember that they last a long time. The original only lasted 4 years, before Counter Strike Source came out. However, Source went 10 years before CS:GO came out. And really there isn’t much need for a new CS game right now. The gameplay doesn’t really need to change. In fact, it is still very similar to CS 1.6. Not identical by any means, but very similar. And to be honest, the players don’t really care about graphics much so it really is a gameplay focused game.
