Hard work or Fortune, which favors the life most

Many of you would have heard about the many people saying that its hard work that favors the life and others saying its fortune or destiny that favors the life. So what is the truth.
Here i share two stories with you. Tell me in comments what you believe in.

There are two sorts of people, one who believe in luck and wait for success to come to their door steps and the other work hard to achieve success.

I am about to tell you guys about two friends of mine who had two different perspective of seeing life.
An old friend of mine, Samir had struggled all his life. He struggled for maintaining a steady job, alcohol dependence and substance abuse. He struggled with his parents too. His elder brother- Aayush, he had done very well in his life. Aayush had a challenging life and a well playing job.

Samir was a pessimistic, he always relied on his life. He didn’t work hard to achieve his life goals. Whenever he felt low about his luck, he would drink and hide out in lonely places. He abused and screamed at everyone who spoke to him at that moment. Samir cursed his luck for his failure and defeat in life. He was a gloomy person by nature.

His blaming his luck was just a negative aspect, but the truth is that never worked hard enough to succeed in life.
Whereas, his brother Aayush was very hard working and focused. He worked all his life to reach the highest peaks of life. Not only that, Aayush spent his free time cultivating side gigs for extra income. Aayush spent more than 80 hours a week working.

I do respect Aayush and a lot of other people also. Aayush isn’t lucky. Aayush is HARD WORKING. It is clearly visible that the success in his life is the result of a lot of hardship and hardwork.
Nothing would happen in life without hard work !

** I agree that luck is somewhat mysterious or hard to explain, otherwise it is “no luck” at all.

However, I really don’t understand that people try to dismiss luck as pure product of “hardship or attitude”. Yes, hard work will increase your chance of success, but “luck” is a completely different monster. It strikes like “lottery” or “successful start-up story like Microsoft/Facebook/Google”. Don’t tell me how smart or diligent those founders are, they are probably at least one million out of one billion people at the same level or better.

If success is a coin, luck is the dark side of it. It’s anything you don’t know or can’t explain. Maybe in retrospect, you find it is just something ridiculously simple. But you simply didn’t know them yet back then, and it’s generally considered as “luck”. The lottery winner or successful founders may believe or try to believe they had the number, which is simply not true. The result could easily change if the dice is run again.

Like it or not, lucky or not, fair or unfair. All you could do is try first and try hard if you are really invested, or you are not giving “luck” the chance to strike upon you.

Or you can try to learn from other things/people to know more in an attempt to reduce the role of dark luck. Think about it, if you have a GPS mobile phone, you don’t need to count on luck to find the way out.
