Good news gamers! Konami has revealed that Metal Gear Survive will not contain any loot boxes whatsoever! Not only that, Konami also added that the game will not feature any pay-to-win mechanics.
It's refreshing to see Konami go against loot boxes, especially when you consider that many triple A games that have released over the past year have found a way to add in loot boxes.
Konami revealed the news about no loot boxes in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine where Konami’s Yuji Korekado stated, “There will be no loot boxes, and there will be no pay-to-win microtransactions, there will be things like accessories in Metal Gear Online Forward Operating Base in MGSV: The Phantom Pain.”
Loot boxes have always been frowned upon by gamers, especially when they aren't needed or make a fully priced game pay-to-win. EA took things to another level with their addition of loot boxes to Star Wars Battlefront II. It looks like Konami are keen to avoid the backlash EA got.
Metal Gear Survive releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 22, 2018.
