Oh, the unbearable pain. The joints of her body ached, and she couldn't help letting a quiet cry out. This fever was growing in intensity; the battle of the immune system burning her skin, muscles, brain. Of course, she should get up and fetch at least a glass of water, but moving her extremities was feeling way too hard. She decided she was saving her strength for later. The heaviness of her eyelids increased. At last, the foggy sleepiness reached her thoughts.
When she started waking up, still with her eyes closed, a weird odor claimed her attention. What was it? She tried to identify it, her nostrils trembling like a little mouse. The essence of wet, recently removed soil struck her fully awake. Where was she? She began to shake and sway, more violently each time, until her fingers touched wood. Left, right, up and down. As her breathing speeded up and air became scarcer, she realized a terrifying fact. Someone had buried her, alive.
