Lydia touched the soft pedals that belonged to roses perched by her grandma's front door.

"Smooth as silk." Her grandma always said. "But be careful of the thorns, they prick."

It was true she realized, about more things than just roses.

Take this afternoon for instance. She had gone into work just like any other day. Her coffee still warm in her hand as she sat down at her desk.

But as she looked up to her computer, there stuck to the screen was a post-it note that read...

She shook her head and close her eyes, feeling reluctant to remember what was wrote on the note. Blue post it with the familiar scent of Jean Paul, always on her screen at least twice a week and she dreaded it.

Looking back, she wondered why she couldn't see the tell tale signs of a psycopath when she first met him. There were signs if she just looked closely, but like her grandmother had said, smooth as silk. No one would have guessed it unless they were through it. He was just too nice, too perfect, such a gentleman.

When he asked her out the first time, she couldn't help but felt like she was the luckiest girl in the world, or at least in the office. It wasn't until their third date and he invited her over to his place, that she found out there was more than what was seen.

"What are you thinking about?" His deep silky voice whispered into her ears as arms circles around her waist. "Excited for tonight?"

She tensed and pursed her lips "We are still in the office" hissing back at him, she glance around, and felt relieve that no one was near the pantry.

"So?" A soft chuckle followed by a small bite on the leaf of her ear. The warm lips continues to nibble down her ear and ghosts on the skin of her neck. "I have something fun for tonigtht, can't wait for you to try it on."

"I'm not going." She broke free from his hug and left the pantry in haste while her cheeks burnt as he replied her with a "I know you will come"
