The world's biggest player renews his contract despite being 51 years old

Japan striker Kazuyoshi Miura has renewed his contract with Yokohama, about a month before his 51st birthday, according to a statement from the second division.

King Kazuo is pleased to extend his contract with Yokohama "without problems". He stressed that he would do his best "without giving any importance to time, and will continue to develop in this sport."

Miura, who completes his 51th birthday on February 26, joined Yokohama in 2005. King Kazuo became the biggest player in the 50-year and seven-day match in March, beating the record of British champion Stanley Matthews.

He began his career in 1986 in Brazil, playing for Santos, Palmeiras and Curitiba, and later moved to several European clubs. He was the first Japanese to play in the Italian league, when he wore a "Genoa" shirt.

The veteran striker, who played for Japan in the 1990s, was eliminated in the final minute of the 1998 World Cup in France.
