Cheese stick is a kind of street food which I loved to buy for an afternoon snacks. It is wrapped in lumpia wrapper and filled with some cheese that is made out from cheese powder.

If you have a higher budget of course we all wanted to use real cheese but for the sake of it's cheap price for only P1, the better option was to use cheese powder.

Like this recipe of mine today, I used cheese powder that comes in 30 grams sachet. I made 42 pieces out of it. All the ingredients that I used here is very affordable and easy to find.

You'll be needing:

20 pcs lumpia wrapper
cheese powder 30 grams
1 tsp sugar
½ cup flour
½ to ⅔ cup of plain water
salt and vegetable oil
oil for frying

Here's how:

1.In a bowl combine cheese powder and flour. Pour in water little by little. This mixture needed to be sticky not a cake batter type.

2.Add a tsp of sugar and salt. Also add vegetable oil or a melted butter. Stir until well blended. Set aside.

3.Divide lumpia wrapper in 4 equal parts and cut using kitchen scissor.

4.Cook the cheese filling in a low medium heat. Keep stirring because it is quite faster to thicken.

5.Once it becomes to look like this, continue to work on it on low heat. The flour needs to cook for atleast 5 minutes.

6.Put in a greased bowl and gently knead it once it cool down.

7.In your working area, arrange these things ib front of you: lumpia wrapper, cheese filling and tap water as the glue for the edges to secure.

8.Scoop atleast ½ tsp of the cheese filling and roll in a long log. It will have the same length that matches your lumpia wrapper.

9.Roll and secure the edges using water. Repeat the process till done.

10.Prepare a frying pan. Fry both sides on low medium heat. For best result, you must deep fry it.

11.Drench in reserved cheese powder and coat cheese stick entirely. Serve while still hot to ensure crispness and freshness. Enjoy with kechup, mayo or mustard sauce.

This is how it looks like. This is not a bad recipe after spending just few peso. I like the taste of this homemade and affordable version of cheese stick. This is a good option if your looking for new cheese stick recipe.

Anyways here is my simple costing:
Cheese powder cost me P8.00. Lumpia wrapper is P10.00. Cooking oil for frying around P10-15 and flour is P5.00. Try and see how easy and delicious is this.
