Day Off in the Kitchen

I love cooking, and took advantage of my day off by slow cooking a pork shoulder using an idea I got last night from a friend.

These little guys are the secret...they taste a bit like a cross between oranges and limes. If you ate a Sour Patch kid that was orange flavored, you'd get the idea. I got these from a friend's fruit tree. I threw a dry rub on the pork first and then added a mix of the juice from this fruit, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce.

The pork shoulder, covered with the dry rub before browning. I mostly followed the Kitchn's browning/Dutch oven/heating plan to get the most tender meat; Emma is one of the best food writers on the internet.

A look at the crust that formed after a few hours in the Dutch oven. Not quite finished! I put it back in for another couple hours.

The final product. Delicious! Even the toddler loves it. Pulled pork is an incredibly affordable food that is easy to make-highly recommended even to amateur cooks!
