To decide what to cook for your family for every meal is not easy. You need to consider lots of things, like what kind of food you will cook. Is it nutritious? Is it gonna be delicious? And the big question is “Does it fit my budget?

Speaking of budget, there are many people who will not cook unless they have the complete ingredients for their dish. Like my Aunt and my husband, They usually say “Cooking with the complete ingredients will make your food delicious.” Well I am not against that because they are very good when it comes to cooking.

The question is, “What if I don’t have enough money for the dish? What will I do? Can I improvise? Can I replace some of the ingredients? Well Of course YES!!!

Please take a look at our stir-fried Kangkong (water spinach) with ToFU. I don’t really eat tofu because I think it’s too bland for me. But when my younger sister brought Kangkong and tofu at home and cooked it, it’s delicious!!!

Here are the steps!
Ingredients:
Kangkong 20php
Tofu (soybean curd)– 15php
Ginger – 5php
Onion – 5php
Garlic -3 php
Black pepper – 2php
Oyster sauce – 15php
Salt

Even with oyster sauce, the total price is less than 2USD!

Procedure:
*First, fry the tofu.
*Prepare the kangkong leaves and chop the other ingredients while you're frying the tofu.
*Fry it until it is golden brown and crispy.
*Set the fried tofu aside.
*Saute the onion, ginger and garlic.
*Put in the kangkong leaves.
*And lastly, just stir it, do not add any water. It will produce its own broth.
*Cover it with the lid then wait for it to cook.
*Stir it from time to time.
*Once the leaves are cooked, put some oyster sauce and a little water.
*Stir it well and wait for about 2 minutes for it to cook.

I like kangkong when half-cooked but I had to cook it well so that our grandma could eat it as well. But it depends on you how you want it cooked.

I know some of you might know how to cook it better or even more delicious. You might want to share that as well with the ingredients and the budget. That will be very good! To all moms and cooks out there, please share what you got. LOL!

Thanks for reading!!!
