The conducted experiment once again confirmed the thesis about the extremely negative influence of sweet on the circulatory system. Among other things, it can lead to heart and brain problems.
On the very ambiguous impact of sweet foods on the body has been known for a long time. Strictly speaking, evolution in general did not prepare a person for sweet drinks or confectionery, and even in large quantities.
Scientists from around the world are trying to understand how sweets affect our body. Now Danish researchers from Copenhagen University have made their contribution. Twelve healthy men participated in the experiment.
The results were more than indicative. After daily intake of sugar, blood flow to the lower limbs decreased by 17%. Measurements were carried out when volunteers sat on a chair and raised their legs.
"Half a liter of cola from time to time will not cause you any harm if you eat healthy food and adhere to a balanced diet," says one of the authors of the study, Professor Yulva Hellsten. The researcher compares the condition of the circulatory system in men who consumed sugar during the experiment, with the indicators of a 65-year-old man. Restoring the body's functions to the subjects took two weeks, this in turn gives hope that normalizing nutrition can help millions of people who suffer from a number of serious illnesses.
