Shuiyi is sometimes called "tree of sorrow" or "sad tree" because these flowers lose their brightness in the light of day.
Shiuli is also sometimes referred to as Nyctanthes arbortristis or Nyctanthes arbor tristis, although it is commonly known as Shiuli.
