Are the markets rigged? Is “Trading Places” the greatest Wall Street movie of all time? What do Usain Bolt, orange juice and Santa’s reindeer have in common? What’s the best thing to have in your wallet behind bars? Is Wall Street the enemy? Or is it just misunderstood?
Do you ever find yourself asking questions like these? Well, if you’re like us, then you do. That is why we have created a new podcast about Wall Street. So, that questions like these no longer need to go unanswered.
Wall & Broadcast is a new podcast about Wall Street and its impact on you. It is a story based podcast that looks at how Wall Street works. Why it does what it does; and why it doesn’t function the way most people believe. We try to take a balanced, but humorous look at what Wall Street does for the better and for the worse. Our goal is to present our listeners with insight, knowledge and humor on a topic that is important to all of us.
The show is hosted by three industry insiders; who have an outsider’s perspective. Alex Tabb is an ex-spy turned COO who helped create one of the industry’s leading market structure research and advisory firms. Dan Simon, is a former boy band member and founder of one of the industry’s leading Marketing and PR firms. Anna Stumpf, the show’s executive producer and is a former actress and brings all the madness together into one coherent and highly entertaining podcast.
Wall and Broadcasts first episode asks the question ‘Are the markets rigged?’ Given all the press of late about how the ‘system is rigged’ we wanted to know if people’s impressions about the stock market are accurate? Are the markets rigged against the ‘little guy’? Are the politicians correct when they say that High Frequency Trading has perverted the markets? Do the big banks have an unfair advantage? Or are they actually getting their butts kicked by newer, smarter and leaner players who are able to adjust quicker to the changing nature speed? Is it impossible for investors get a fair shake? Or are they in a better position than ever before to get ahead?
In our first episode of Wall & Broadcast we interview experts and market watchers from all camps to find out if the markets are in fact rigged. We interview market whistle-blower Chaim Bodek and former US Senator and market watchdog Ted Kaufman (VP Joe Biden’s replacement) to understand what is wrong with markets and the way the function. We talk to HFT practitioners Naraj Narang, former founder of Tradeworks and Cameron Smith, President of Quantlabs to understand what they do. We speak with HFT advocate Bill Harts, President of the Modern Markets Initiative to get an understanding of role HFT plays within the markets. We also talk with the CEO of Convergex, a large institutional brokerage firm that sits at the epicenter of the debate who does an excellent job of placing everything in context.
So, please take a few moments and listen to the first episode of our podcast ‘Are the Markets Rigged?’ We hope you enjoy it and look forward to your comments as we continue to develop new story ideas.
