Gibson wakes early again to his usual routine of visiting companies to submit his curriculum vitae. He finds an advertisement for an employment that fits his qualification. He applies for it and returns home to prepare for the interview slated to hold in the next two weeks.
On the night to the exams, he struggled to read and couldn’t and had this strong urge to pray. After praying, he ended up in his bed where he had a trance. Gibson in a trance sees himself in the midst of professionals brainstorming together. Questions are asked and answered amongst themselves. It got so interesting that he was not happy when he woke to the reality that it was all a dream. The thrill the trance brought was all over when he realised he was late for an interview: the interview he had waited five years for!!. He jumped out of his bed and made to prepare to leave.
Foenoes Limited is an International company with the largest employees/work force. Its involved in majorly maritime operations both offshore and onshore. Its scatterred round strategic locations in the world and recruits new employees once every five years. The last time recruitment was done was when Gibson was in his penultimate year in the university and it was set to recruit again.
Gibson is a typical Nigerian graduate who has served his compulsory one year Service (National Youth Service Corp, NYSC) five years ago and has not since secured a job yet. Talking about entrepreneurial means, didn’t have enough capital to start and has been living with daily chicken change only God knows how he got it from. Sincerely, life was not rosy for Gibson.
At the Foenoes branch where Gibson lives, candidates for the interview have arrived and set to write the exams with much anticipation to be recruited afterwards because its a once in a lifetime opportunity. In no time, the halls are set and candidates are set to begin the test. Soon, the long awaited exams started with much tension in the air amongst candidate although some looked though thou.
Few minutes into the exams, Gibson comes running into the test hall and walks to the invigilator to introduce himself and possibly apologize for coming in late so he could begin his test with others. He was immediately reprimanded by the invigilator and asked to leave and apply next time. In his words,
“we operate by rules here”!
Just when Gibson made to leave, the Branch Managing Director walked in to see how well the exams was going and caught Gibson walking out of the hall. The director called Gibson back and asked why he was leaving but the invigilator made to talk and was asked to keep quiet. Gibson explained everything and amazingly thou it was not a good one, but the Director just liked him and summoned all board managers to the conference room to conduct an oral interview for Gibson after the test was over. Yes, the Director would have made it easier but so to avoid any questions of his employment if he would pass anyway. He had great faith in Gibson after few minutes of chatting with him and knew somehow Gibson will beat the board managers to their questions.
The board managers were not happy with the sudden change of plan and came prepared to disappoint whoever it was that made them to be summoned.
The time was set in the conference room. The Director just looked on while the questions kept pouring on Gibson to answer until none was left to ask and amazingly, Gibson answered all correctly. It was crystal clear that Gibson has been recruited and there was nothing they could do about to it. The employment letter was soon processed and given to Gibson. The other candidates who took the test had long dispersed waiting to be among the lucky five of which Gibson is one.
As Gibson got home, it soon dawned on him that the trance he had early that morning replicated itself in the conference room only that this time, the questions were not asked amongst themselves to answer, it was asked for him to answer and he answered as it was in the trance. Gibson was so lost in gratitude to God and worshipped for along time.
Thou, he woke up late in the process, he had the courage to get to the hall where many would have lost hope that its over and he came back victorious. Its nothing but the holy spirit that pushed him.
On this note, I would like to end with this quote that “its better late than never”. Nothing is impossible with God
LESSON
Never judge a book by its cover.
Always be your number fan. No one will.
Where there a vision, theres always victory.
Never underestimate the power of prayer and the holy spirit.
