Good day everyone, i hope we have all been having a nice time on @farms, i cannot measure the quantity of knowledge that i have acquired in the last few days through this platform, i must commend the effort of @abiye for a great job well done in overseeing this community. I also acknowledge the effort of our main man @sirknight, one whose idea is a blessing to us all, i pray that together we all shall continue to progress In Jesus Name, (Amen).
Vikebun fish farm has been existing for sometime now, 2years to be precised, though when it started, it was with an artificial pond because there wasn't sufficient fund to construct a real one. But as God had His way, through some personal savings i was able to construct a real concrete pond, with assistance from families too.
As at now the ponds are divided in 3 sections; Pond 1, 2 and 3.
Pond 1 contains fingerlings of about 0-2 weeks old.
Pond1
These fingerlings feed are made majorly of groundnut, fish bone and other growers composition. The size of their feed is about 0.3mm.
Pond two contains fishes that are between the ages of 2- 12 weeks i.e they are less than 2months old. The size of their feed is approximately 4mm in diameter.
Pond 2
Pond 3 contains fishes above 2 months old, sales can begin once they are 3months old, depending on the size in particular because they all vary in size.
Pond 3
The size of their feed is about 6mm in diameter.
Pond 3 contains about 200 fishes presently with the initial start up of over 600 fingerlings.
My plan is to increase the number of fingerlings at the start up stage to about 1500 fingerlings, so that at the later stage i would have nothing less than 800 matured fishes ready for market. But the first challenge i encountered was the size of pond, as this present pond cannot conveniently accommodate the number i plan for.
I have been able to acquire a new and Larger site for the pond, but financing is something else.
The major cost in fish farming is Feeding. You need to see how excited they are when feeding.
At some stage, you have to feed them 3times daily.
For the expansion project: Application For Grant
**Purpose Of The Grant**
The purpose of the grant is to expand the production fishes, increasing the number of fishes to be produced within 24weeks.
**Location Of The Farm**
Oliwo Estate
Sagamu
Ogun State
Nigeria
**Required Grant**
390 Steem, this will purchase about 1500 fingerlings with feed that will last them for 6months.
**Budget Proposal**
1500 pieces of post fingerlings = 45Steem
Feed for 0-2 weeks = 30Steem
Feed for 2-12 weeks = 90Steem
Feed for 12-20 weeks = 140Steem
Feed for 20-24 weeks = 85Steem
In total = **390Steem**
No doubt as there would be profit all round because producing about 800fishes with cost of 0.6Steem per one makes allowance for gain.
**Resources**
I have been able to acquire a bigger pond that can accommodate 1500 fingerlings at the initial stage.
**Qualification**
I have been into fish farming for almost 3years now (above 2) and currently managing almost 600 fishes at the present.
**Conclusion**
It will be of a great joy to me and a progress in the economy if my request for grant is duely considered. As this will pilot increase in productivity of fish in my locality. Upon approval of funds the new site work begins, as this will strengthen @farms the more in the poverty Eradication Scheme. I look forward to receiving positive response from @farms.
Thanks.
