If you are a facebook user then i'm sure you might have seen a meme like this. Especially if you are in places like India where everyone you know is generally on facebook and there's no dearth of people sending you requests on a regular basis.
I was doing some clean up earlier today and was wondering about a few people I didn't really want to stay connected in the first place with on my list. A short while later I came across this meme. It was just hilarious.
Sometimes, people even if strangers you are comfortable connecting with them because maybe you have something in common and you want to remain connected.
Then there are other times when this meme is pretty much true. After some cleaning up I'm left with over 1600 people in my list and with over 700 pending requests after I was done removing some! It’s too much work so I’ve let it be for now.
I've also stopped adding people i don't know personally or if they don't care sending a text why they want to connect so this too piled up overtime.
I think it's great to connect with people all over the world. I have someone I know in my fb friend list who has two accounts, both have 5K friends each, no idea why he's done this or and how he manages to stay active on both accounts. I can't figure out why somebody would do that.
People love to snoop on other people. It's more commonplace in certain cultures I think. Here, people tend to do that a lot and for those reasons social media like Facebook or Instagram are very popular amongst everyone. Annoying family members, relatives and acquaintances love to use these platforms to keep tabs on others.
It's just the way of life. The concept of friend requests certainly seems to hold a different meaning now.
But on Steem there's none of that. You can't control the privacy of your content shared either. You just put it out there and it's visible to the world should they want to find you or your content for whatever reasons. Very different sets of experiences indeed.
If you like my work kindly resteem it to your friends. You may also continue reading my recent posts which might interest you:
