Skiathos has a rich and eventful history, although it is a small island. Skiathos has always been the island's name. Skiing is Greek for' great shadow' referring to the shadows of the vast pine forests dominating the countryside. It was mainly inhabited in its early history by the Cretans. Its first major historical event occurred during the Persian Wars, in which it served as an Athenian port. He became a member of the Delian League of Athens in 478 BC.

Megali Ammos
Located in the street leading to Koukounaries a little outside the town of Skiathos. This beach can be reached on foot, by car or by bus. You can enjoy the crystal clear waters and the food in its very nice taverns or the picturesque "ouzeri" (small tavernas serving ouzo and snacks).

Skiathos Town
The capital of Skiathos is amphitheatrically built in a windless bay on the southeast end of the island, full of simple white houses with tiled roofs and narrow streets. It is the same town from the classical period to the Byzantine period when people moved to the fortified village of Kastro in search of safety.

Agia Paraskevi
Clear waters and golden, fine sand. This is the beach of Agia Paraskevi named after the little country church of Agia Paraskevi which is found there. There are luxury hotels, excellent taverns, and water sports facilities on this beach. You can reach it by road.

Koukounaries
This is the most famous Skiathos beach and one of Europe's most famous beaches. It is called "Chrisi Ammos-Golden Sand "because the sand is extremely fine under the summer sun. This beach offers visitors its deep blue, crystal clear waters and a unique opportunity for relaxation as the Koukounaries forest reaches the sea. In this forest is the Strofylia lagoon, which together with the Koukounaries forest is a natural aquatic reverse rate.

Achladies
Is a major tourist village of Skiathos Island around the eponymous long sandy beach, 5.5 kilometres southwest of the town of Skiathos. Particularly, it is worthy of note the taverns and the beautiful graphic ouzeries serving to allow you to have a good meal after a bath as well. The beach is well organized and offers all the facilities for swimming, sunbathing and all sea and beach sports.

Koukounaries beach
This is the most famous and crowded beach of Skiathos. It is famous for its extremely fine white sand and its fragrant pine forest, the region's name given to. It is considered to be the most pristine natural beach in the Mediterranean and a protected area. The beautiful deep blue crystal clear waters are a pleasure. Since the beach is well organized, many water sports, chairs, umbrellas and beach bars are available.

Lalaria beach
Located northwest of the island and reachable by boat from the port of the capital, Lalaria has an unbelievable beauty and huge white cliffs that rise from the clear deep blue sea. Lalaria is a dream- like site.

Achladies beach
This sandy beach is a small beach situated 2 km from the capital. Its clear waters are fully organized and suitable for all types of maritime sport. There you can rent wind surfing and water skiing. It can be reached by foot, coach, local bus or a boat from Skiathos town on a regular basis.

Agia Paraskevi beach
In the South of Skiathos region, 7 km from Skiathos town, is Agia Paraskevi Strand Resort. It's a lovely beach with a golden sand and blue waters. It took its name from Agia Paraskevi 's nearby church. This large beach is well equipped for many sports like water skiing and jet skiing. A boat can also be rented for small excursions around the island.

Vromolimnos beach
Set on the south coast of Skiathos, only 8 km south-west of Kolios, this beautiful beach is close to the coast. It is a beautiful bay, calm, smooth and fine waters. Vromolimnos is regarded as Koukounaries ' second most popular beach because of its sun-shades and umbrellas.
