Religion! Religion!! Religion!!! There are some things that you hear and begin to appreciate the amount damage religious misinterpretation has done to mankind. I used the term: "religious misinterpretation" because I don't consider religion to be bad in itself; no. But religious misinterpretation begets its misunderstanding and then misapplication. This is what's happening in many societies today of which Nigeria is not an exception. And that's actually what I consider very harmful.
Sometimes in February 2016, I read a news report about a toddler that was abandoned by his parents and immediate community because he was accused of being a witch by a pastor. This happened in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The innocent boy was left to die by those who ought to die for him in the event of potentially harmful occurrences.
The toddler spent months, trying to survive in the street, and was on the verge of death when his plight was brought to the attention of a Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén, who's also the founder of African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF).
This Godsent of a woman would later came to the rescue of the boy, picked him up, cleaned him up and took it upon herself to rehabilitate him. Fast-forward to 2019 which is actually three years and some months now since the boy has been under the custody, the picture below is the boy's amazing and dramatic transformation as reported here
This is how an innocent boy would have been killed by the so called man of God.
Moral lesson: we must put our common sense to work whenever we listen to those who claim to be men and women of God.
