@ned is the CEO. He doesn't owe any of you an explanation and he can downvote whoever he wants. Dan has been pushing Ned's buttons for a long time now - many months.
As for the upvote, @ned obviously doesn't need the money but is making a point of value above the collective fray.
Quit being a bunch of crybabies and show @ned some respect. He had to run the show when @dan abandoned this platform at the time Steem was only worth about a dime.
Dan left, Ned stayed and led. You're getting SMTs this year because of Ned, not Dan.
