Hello Steemians! How are you? I hope you started the week off on the right foot.
On this occasion I come by to tell you about an anime that I finished yesterday at 1 am (at 1.37 am, to be more precise) and that kept me in suspense until the last chapter: Death Note. To be honest I was never very keen on seeing animes, but this one was recommended to me by a good friend, so I decided to listen to him... and what a good decision I made!
The story features Light Yagami, an outstanding student from Japan who has a "boring" outlook on life and considers the world a "rotten" place. One day, his life undergoes a radical change, when he finds a strange supernatural notebook called "Death Note", lying on the floor. Behind the cover of this notebook there were instructions about its use, where it said that if a person's name was written and his face was mentally visualized, he would die of a heart attack. At first, Light mistrusted the authenticity of the notebook, but after trying it twice, he realizes that its power was real. After five days, he receives a visit from the real owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, who tells him that he had dropped the Death Note on Earth because he was bored, and in turn Light tells him that his goal was to kill all the criminals, in order to cleanse the world of evil. I warn you, kind readers, this review may have some spoilers of the first chapters, since it is difficult to talk about the characters without making spoilers. But don't worry, I'll try not to tell more than I should, hehe.
Our protagonist Light Yagami decides to make a few tests with the Death Note murdering criminals to corroborate their authenticity. Once this is done and realizing that he could kill other people just by knowing his face and his name, he decides to continue murdering to create "The New World", and supporters of this mysterious killer who has never been seen face in public start calling him "Kira". This increase in the number of criminals' deaths calls the attention of the Police, who can not solve the case, they contact "L", a super intelligent detective. From here begins a brain battle between Light (Kira) and L. It is a race against time to see who catches who, and the first to fall, not only loses but dies.
These characters are both similar but different from each other, as Light has a cold, calculating and selfish personality due to the power that Death Note gives her and is able to use others to achieve her goals. For his part, L (my favorite character) is also a calculating and highly analytical character, but he thinks that no one should have the power to decide who dies and who lives, and is certified to see all possible angles that could originate from his strategies to prevent and predict the actions of his enemy. There are many more characters that appear as you advance in the anime, however I will not talk about them in order to not spoil my dear readers.
As a personal opinion I can say that the plot is very well thought out, it is not lightly done at all, it is super complete and detailed in all aspects even though I think the animation as such could have been of better quality; it is totally worth it. The Death Note rules are super specific and very well thought out, and the way of thinking of both Light and L leaves you speechless. Every time they presented their arguments they made me feel very ignorant, like "I would have neve thought about this".
I found the characters spectacular, each one in their own way, each one super well thought out and with a fairly well-defined and characteristic personality. The one I liked least was Light, the main character, because Death Note corrupted him completely and because he is a super selfish character, and I admit that I felt rage every time I managed to get away with it, which happened in almost every chapter. The one I liked the most was L, because despite having some strange manias, he's super intelligent and in a certain way sweet, who seeks to capture Kira once and for all in order to stop the murders.
This is a series that, if you're going to watch it, you'll have to pay a lot of attention to it, because if you miss something, you won't understand why it got to a certain point or why something happened. It makes you think constantly, but no matter how hard you try, you'll always miss something and when you get to understand, you are impressed with how well fitted and thought everything is.
Dear readers, have you watched this anime? What do you think? Would you like to watch it?
They managed very well to trap us in each episode. Many people who don't usually watch anime saw it and loved it, so don't miss it if you get a chance to watch it - highly recommended!
