Dear @DTube #23 // it’s bank holiday monday, hottest bank holiday in forty years in the uk.

And why do I just think CLIMATE CHANGE when I think of the heat?

I think in the uk people will just be happy with the fact that it’s warm and they have not had to travel abroad to get some sunshine. Now don’t get me wrong here, it’s bloody lovely and warm and so surprising for a bank holiday weekend to have it especially because in the uk it’s normally raining and horrible most of the time and we had a ROUGH winter.

In some regards so I’m thankful of that but I we can’t hide the fact we are at 420 ppm in the atmosphere, people please start to make adjustments in your lives to be more sustainable I beg you while you enjoy you enjoy these warm days, we live on this planet together and it’s gonna take a global effort if we are not gonna suffocate ourselves from our own consumption.

Ok, enough of that — how you doing today, I’ve woke up ready to go, I’ve made some adjustments to the look of the video files and I think I’ve found a sweet spot for the moment — I’d like to use the 4k feature of the camera but it just runs SO slow on my ageing iMac that it can’t cope with the amount of data to process, computer upgrade is needed.

I realised that the input and speed was too much for my computer and that my top 10 @steemhunt shows looked a bit muddy and blown out because I was uploading a 720p clip and 720p video input at 60 fps, I’ve adjusted that down for the moment and capturing a more high resolution 1080p so you should see the difference and we should remove all the lag I’ve been having when recording shows (it was really bugging me!)

I’m discussing in the vlog today that bank holidays don’t really register in my psyche like the majority of 9 to 5 workers — I don’t organise my life around the standard calendar of ‘public holidays’ — I’m not sure if that is just rebellion against being ‘sheep’ culture or just the fact that most holidays I used to work on help desks or for places where these days were perfect for doing ‘migrations’ while everyone was on holiday but it was start of the week work day — all I remember was the Tuesdays were AWFUL.

People coming back from bank holidays not wanting to be at work giving us SHIT over the helpdesk support lines, causing me stress as ‘they system had changed’ — because of the upgrades certain things would be different in the system updates and so therefore to them it was broken — it was always interesting to me about the way people ‘learned’ to use technology.

I saw this in my mum first, she understand how to operate her computer based on the location of the icons on her screen, if she did not have the pattern of ‘events’ that matched her notes then she panicked — if that was moved or accidentally sorted then she would think the computer was broken.

It really helped me with teaching people about technology understanding how people operate computers — it’s ok to read a book about to operate a computer but their is no manual (or could be) for the eventuality of when the computer does not operate or conform to the way it should. It helped my flexibility in being compassionate about their lack of understanding when it came to migration days! :)

Anyway, that’s my little snippet into the brain of a help desk person who never had a bank holiday day off to enjoy because he was too busy migrating data from an ageing NCR system to a SUN SPARC ;) — you have a good day in the alternative sun today and remember that we only have one planet earth! :)

Let’s stop living on it like we have two of them eh? :)

I’ll speak to you tomorrow
