DRAWING CHALLENGE #3 - YUMMY BERRIES

It was fun to participate in the DRAWING CHALLENGE #2 with my GOLDEN ROSE, so I decided to make another painting for the new part of this contest. Current theme of the DRAWING CHALLENGE #3 is a fruit.

What I like about my last entry is the black backround I chose so this time I wanted to move a little further forward in it and make much better composition using the black backround.

The actual summertime fruits are the berries. I love blueberries and strawberries the most, but when I watched other entries, there were a lots of drawings of strawberries so I decided to draw just blueberry, raspberry and a couple of red currants.

My painting process.

---Like always I painted in Photoshop.---

1 - SKETCHING

Initially I thought I'd paint these berries onto a wooden spoon, but later I found out how bad I am in painting a wooden texture, so I gave up on it.

2 - COLORING

The next step was to make colored backround for every berry, because then it's easier to paint details.

3 - DETAILS

I always promise myself I'd make this step into more layers, but I forget every time, because I'm alway too immersed in this detailed painting.

Although I realized it too late, I saved one detail into another step and that's the stalk of red currants. Sorry about it, I'll try harder to make more layers next time.

4 - BACKROUND

The black backround is perfect for berries, because red color will stand out more this way.

5 - MIRROR EFFECT

I just copied my painting and flipped it.

6 - SHADING and SIGNATURE

I made the mirror effect, the bottom part of blueberry and the inner part between red currants smoother.

Thank you and see you in my next post!
