Dove network is a blockchain-powered platform, that will allow people to buy, sell, donate and monetize unused data capacity. The implementation of blockchain technology will allow any electronic gadget such as smartphone, computer and router, to operate as a node. So, any user willing to get access to the Internet, will be able to connect using the closest node. When the network is crashed, user will be automatically connected to the alternative node.
How it works
In order to join the Dove community, users have to log in the Dove application. Then users should register the electronic gadget to the network, so that the system can track its location. Data preferences should be set up. Users have to identify themselves as a data buyer or seller, indicate required or available speed, the price of data for sale and so on. After the procedure of registration is over, users will be automatically connected to the most suitable and available Dove WiFi hotspot.
When electronic gadget needs data within the network, it is searching for Dove Network peers. When buyers request data, they are able to choose more than one provider. The system automatically connects to the most reliable provider. So, all providers are estimated by the system according to the quality of connection they provide. The system creates its own list of the most reliable providers. These procedures are processed automatically and off chain. Thus, Dove Network can continuously update the software to create more stable connections to users on the go.
Security challenges
There are various opportunities for malicious attacks on the network. The Dove founders identified the following as important things to do:
1. Most of public WiFi hotspots are not secure as they are constantly attacked by the frauds for the purpose to take the user’s data. Therefore, Dove Network will check the pool of available hotspots and will connect users only to WPA2 Security hotspots, as they are considered to be more reliable.

2. Since Dove Network is an open source, one can try to get the hotspot password and use it for free. Due to smart contracts, the system will break off the connection, if someone tries to cheat the network. The client will be obliged to change passwords in order to reduce the number of attacks, that can damage the whole system.
3. Due to the fact, that all data are stored in public blockchain, someone can try to found out who and how much earns within the public blockchain, or even try to track the location of the hotspot owner and steal money. According to Dove Network, the project developers are still conducting research on this task. But they have already found a way out. It is to provide user with an opportunity to participate in a private blockchain, that will increase the performance.
