It has almost been 2 years since Doom VFR was announced and now it finally arrived.Doom VFR submerges the player in the kind of virtual reality it was fantasized about in the nineties but never came out. Everyone with a PlayStation VR or HTC Vive can enjoy this classic FPS in a no-nonsense virtual reality setting like it's vanilla ice cream.
An Ode to the Big Fucking Gun
VFR in Doom stands for Virtual Fucking Reality and is a reference to the Big Fucking Gun which is the most powerful weapon in the first installement. Doom Virtual Fucking Reality sounds brutal and that's exactly what it is. The formula is pretty much the same as it was in the original game. You take on the identity of a tough soldier who blasts hellspawned creatures into smitherines. Don't expect epic storytelling or puzzle solving in any way, Doom VFR focuses only on shooting down enemies with the help of a wide variety of weapons. It has a high level of gore and the monsters make some extraordinary movements when they get shot. With a PlayStation Aim-controller the feeling of handling a real gun comes very close which makes the game even more realistic.

Comfortable Gameplay
Before the release of Doom VFR a lot of people where a little sceptical, it has been speculated that the game would turn off a great majority of the gaming community. With such a legendary title as Doom making a mistake during the process of virtual restyling can be very easy. While designing id Software the company responsable for Doom's remake had to be careful with the speed of which the character moves to prevent nosia or epilectic seizures when playing. To make a long story short, Doom VFR runs a little bit slower than it's predecessor with the intention of preserving a comfortable gameplay experience.

Giant Monsters
Spectaculair resolution makes the virtual world of Doom VFR pop out, in addition id Software has introduced some really tall monsters into the game which makes the environment so much more impressing than the average first person shooting game. Doom VFR is the third installment of the title in VR but boy this is a beauty which is certainly not to be compared with previous experiments like the optimized version released in 1995 that had to be played with the VFX1 headset or Oculus Rift's special edition Doom 3 from 2012. No Doom VFR is a complete and catchy game that makes you want to play it continuously once you've tried it.
