Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. As you may know, we have 23 dogs. They are all between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. You may also realize that with in the next 3 -5 years or so, this whole situation is going to become VERY difficult.
Old dogs take a lot of attention, time and clean up supplies. They are going to need to be let out more often (more than 4x a day) and given specialized treatment for their particular situation.
Currently, Lucy has been the sick one amongst the rest of the gang. She has stopped eating and is incontinent. We have given her a bath, shaved her butt, fed her food through a turkey baster and we are switching out the pee soaked towels everyday and washing them.
I (Nicole) moved up to Alaska to become a stronger woman, and I do feel that this situation has made me stronger. We work everyday on giving these dogs the most love and attention we can, training our help, cooking, cleaning, and then working part time jobs on top of all of this. My heart sinks as I think about this situation in the future. One dog being sick is one thing, but a couple dogs being sick together is another.
Mentally, I am trying to prepare myself for this. Being strong and hopeful is my goal. I really do hope that someone in this world can help make these dog's journey into a far out dog universe more enjoyable. If you feel inclined to help, please think about donating. Your donation will go to funding a project, buying dog food, buying new dog beds or helping with paying some of our our utilities.
