Amazon pledges $1 billion to help small businesses in India

This is an example of an extremely poor showing in ESG risk management by Amazon. Having managed the risk badly and then opting to placate the Indian traders by pledging a mere $1 billion to help small businesses seems like even a worst strategy.

If Bezos thought wearing an Indian traditional attire is one way of managing his company's ESG risk, then he will be in for a big surprise. This reminds us of the recent attempt by the Malaysian Primary Industry Minister, Theresa Kok, wearing saree during an official function in India. She was then trying to manage the risk of India banning the import of palm oil.
