This is how I fixed the Kitchen Sink & did plumbing work for just over $10 bucks! This repair would have probably cost me a couple of hundred dollars if I had a plumber take a look!
In this video we needed to replace part of the pipe that connects to the basket below the sink. The top locking ring that locks the sink basket to the bottom of the sink was defective and just came apart as I tried to remove it. I also needed to get the dishwasher hose reattached to the plumbing below the sink. This required a new stainless steel clamp as the old one was too small. The small clamp was still good but the hose was being connected to a slightly larger pipe. Thankfully I had just recently purchase a box of assorted clamps.
The sink basket also needed to have a bit of plumbers putty put around the opening on the top side of the sink before I placed the basket in the sink. Everything seemed to work fairly smooth.
As this was the first time I had ever tried to fix a broken kitchen sink I thought it went fairly well. I did learn that if you have all the right supplies and the right tools before hand you can get something like this done in a short time. Plus, you will save a BUNDLE!! Saving money by doing your own repairs is the best way to go! That's what we like to do on the No Budget Homestead.
