I hadn't seen this until today, and it's just depressing how much better the fan-made version is compared to the show.
This is a simple story that could have been easily stretched out over the course of a short season, wherein Kenobi needs to defend Luke from being discovered by the empire; while keeping his distance so he doesn't piss off Owen; and simultaneously learning to reconnect with Qui Gon and communicate with Yoda through the force, across the galaxy.
He can't meet Leia. He can't meet Vader. He can't form a serious relationship with Luke -- certainly not a version of Luke that would be old enough to remember.
For watching this though, I think it’s really hard to compare a 15 minute short with a series, where I don’t think this would work for six episodes.
Part of me wishes they made this a simpler western style story of sand people capturing Luke, Obi Wan saving him and Luke uses his powers without realizing it.
That would also probably be called too fast and boring though.
The thing Obi Wan got though that this failed at was how Obi Wan uses the force.
In the Disney+ series, he only used it to save a major characters life and he seems to almost have a shame in using it, where he’s weakened after a decade of not using it.
I think the core story and mindset of Vader/Obi Wan works, while also having an amazing kid Leia.
The issue is I think they are trying for a full series, when this was planned as a miniseries and just make stupid little mistakes.
