Karcher and built in obsolesce, by design.

So my jet washer sprang an internal leak.

I am not sure where everyone lives, but I can tell you for free, a Karcher jet wash here, is not cheap, and mine was only just over 1 year old.

So I took it apart, to see what had occurred, and noticed some unusual anomalies, or design faults, if you like.

I can see from the Plastic shroud, or casing, that it was designed, to not have the part that failed in it, full stop.
The part that failed, also hid a thread, for the hose, and the bottom casing also had a hole in it, for the hose to go through.

What failed? This 90 degree angle that attaches to the hose you use to jet wash with.

I come from an engineering background.

And can spot a deliberate attempt to sabotage a product, so you have to get it serviced (fixed) or buy another one.

So I put this jet wash, back to how it was meant to be, and stuck that crap plastic part in the bin, where it belongs.

Then I took my old friend the grinder out, plugged it in, and cut this from the casing. (bottom)

And then I fitted the hose to where it was originally intended to be.

And now it works fine, and looks like this.

DIY.

When I worked at Land Rover, in the engineering department, we had a conflict of interests, with the design team, they came up with a 1 piece exhaust for the Range Rover l322, and we wanted a 4 piece item, to take up less production space, they were told by Ford, to keep it at a 1 piece item, as it would cost more to replace, when it failed.

The logic was flawed, from the off, as the manufacturer of the massive, double exit exhaust, had to have a permanent member of their staff track-side (so we had to pay more per item), to watch them being fitted, they also took up way too much shop floor space, they also cost more to ship to us. They cost us more, to make money, when they failed, for a car that Land Rover no longer supports, stupid thinking, by stupid people!.

And this Karcher reminds me of them, those morons, that get paid to put in a design fault.

There you go, I fixed it all the same, and potentially saved a life, as the leak was pissing water all over the inside.

Have a superb weekend, @shepz1 is out.

Meme for my special friend.
