Robert in Davos | Day -1

Davos. World Economic Forum's top event in Europe. This year without Trump (government shutdown), without Theresa May (Brexit deal. Not.) and without Macron (yellow west protests). But there are still many kings and queens, ministers, global businesses and NGOs present. Four days of networking at the "world’s most important watering hole" (http://time.com/5505958/davos-2019-world-economic-forum/).

I have just got in, beautiful weather, snow & sun! Preparing our pavilion, putting up TVs, arranging the pavilion.

Why am I here? First of all, because I got the chance to be here. Who wouldn't want to come? UN, WEF and multinational company folks are fighting for years to get here.

Ok, but why? What is my personal agenda? I have three reasons to be here.

Reason 1. Circular economy. We have thrown so much waste out of the door that today it comes back through the window. We need to do something about it. And it has to be a business interest behind it, otherwise it simply won't work. I plan to get more clarity about what is going on regarding this.

Reason 2. Blockchain. This is one of those things which's existence should render the need for them obsolete. Why do we need Blockchain? Because we lie. We lie so much that it is hard to know, when we are not lying. And Blockchain is viewed as a system for eliminating the idea of lying. Or at least make lying available to those, who have the required computing power. Or a quantum computer. A lot of Blockchain interest is present in Davos, just check the DavosX app! I plan to meet them to learn more about Blockchain opportunities and challenges.

Reason 3. This is a secret. Little selfish, little silly so you'll never know.

That's for now, check back tomorrow for more!

Disclosure: I work as a consultant for TerraCycle, a revolutionary recycling company attending the World Economic Forum's Davos Summit.
