For every piece of personal data we handover to the companies such as Facebook and Google we should be compensated as a reflection of the value such information has for these companies.

Why there needs to be a radical shift in how public data is managed on social platforms?
Data is a personal asset. Any service that deals with public data must be aware and sensible towards this fact. People have every right to know how their personal assets are being used. There needs to be transparency on every sensible aspect of how our data is utilized. Constant privacy breaches and big security loopholes have lead to countless incidents such as Cambridge Analytica and Google+ shutdown. Such incidents expose traumatic flaws in these systems. Major social platforms are fundamentally advertising companies where exploitation of public data is the business model. There needs to be a radical shift in how data is managed and utilized on social platforms. This is an area of innovation which can dictate a new revolution on the Internet.
