New Years Eve - A look back on 2021

It's almost 2022 less than 24 hrs to go. It's been quite a year for me and I'm sure for many of you. I wanted to make this post which isn't my normal type of content to look back over this year and see all that I have done and that I'm proud of and what I hope to do better at in 2022. This is a much longer post than I usually make but it's also a lot of photos. This post was inspired by a post by @sharker who made 2021: Results of the year post which gave me the idea to make this 2021 summary post. Thanks for the great idea!

The first big accomplishment I made almost 1 year ago was I started my own video production business called Brite Point Media!

I was sick and tired of constantly chasing work and being told what to do in jobs and not being allowed to be nearly as creative as I wanted to. Plus whenever business was good I never saw another penny while the CEO made more money. So I decided to go into business for myself. I knew it wouldn't be easy and it hasn't. There's also still a chance I won't succeed but I'm trying and that's all I can do right?

This year I also dove deeper into the world of color grading and I have absolutely loved it. I have always loved color and films and how the colors of a tv show or movie can have such an impact on the viewer. I've been able to work on some very coll projects as well. A western, a short film, and some commercials too.

The first commercial was for a brand called Rocco and Roxie. These commercials were for their dog treads and stain remover. We filmed both commercials in a day and were shown on Amazon prime.

I color graded my first short film for a buddy of mine and came up with the entire look of the film.

I also color graded 3 product commercials for a company called Dogpound who makes workout gear. They wanted a cool sports vibe so this is what I came up with.

I also had the great opportunity to color grade 3 commercials featuring Vanessa Hudgens for a drink company she's part of. I think of all the projects I worked on this was one of my favorites since shes a big name and it was a really fun project and look to create.

I color graded 2 short commercials for a guitar company and they wanted a very warm and what they called "a cigar" look. They were happy with the work I did luckily.

The last big project of 2021 for me was color grading some videos for the Alessia Cara behind the music video. These weren't music videos, but they were more an interview and she discussed the songs and their meaning and her process to make the songs and some behind the scene of the actual music videos filming.

Lastly, I color graded a few shots for a friend of mine who was working on a period piece and needed help coming up with a look for some of the scenes. He sent them to me and asked me to play around with them and see what I could come up with and these were the final results.

I also worked really hard and earned my drone pilot license this year. I'm working to expand my services and break into new other sectors where drone skills are needed both for filming and for survey and inspection work. I used to fly a Mavic air which was great for a few years to learn how to fly. I figured if I was to crash and potentially break a drone better to crash a 400 dollar drone than a 4000 dollar drone. Luckily no crashes occurred and I have since upgraded my drone.

Lastly this year I went on a much needed small vacation to Mammothlakes this winter and it was beautiful. There was snow and fresh air and it was just so nice and relaxing to get out of the city and away from everything for a few days.

That's just a quick recap of my 2021 year and I'm really excited for what 2022 has in store for me. I'm going to keep working hard to make everything happen and reach my goals and ill continue to share what I can with everyone on here too. I wasn't even able to share everything from 2021 so ill still be sharing everything that I didn't have a chance to yet. I think 2022 will be a big year for Hive and Web 3 and I'm excited for what's to come. I hope everyone here has a great new year and ill be back in 2022.

Happy New Year to everyone and to Hive!
