Wow, the past two weeks have been a reminder to self of the fast approaching silly season!
My hopes of spending time steeming along with Steem related tasks got dashed as offsite distractions continued. Still, I'm not complaining as engaging with loved ones and making new friends in the real world is just as important to me as my ether'd family.
As a proponent of the Law of Attraction, I should of known better. Should have kept those thoughts to myself of being with fellow steemians more! So, here's a big shout-out to The Universe: I'm way to busy to be involved with the Steem community for the next month or so!
Shhh, let's keep this quiet, I really do need to spend more time here on Steem as I love this community to bits, and bytes!
The festive season is now upon us. This is the time of year we reflect on what we have achieved over the past 12 months.
For me, the biggest achievements have been Mary and I finally moving to our own rented apartment after spending a few years living with my brother, and us also getting our own computer so we can do our internet thingies. With Mary, that's Facebook and that's why you see so much Cook Islands chatter on my/our Facebook account.
Mary's awesome, she's just not that good with computing so I let her use my Facebook account, and that's also my only Facebook account so business and leisure have become intertwined. I know that there's a lot of people who say to keep business out of family, yet as an internet entrepreneur, I see my online family and friends as an extension of my offline ones.
To me, being an entrepreneur means living your life passionately, chasing your dreams. My life has become so frantic, I have no room for business to be separated anymore, so all my online and offline activities are intertwined, and purely for leisure. How quaint, making money while have fun!
We are about to leap into Year 2020. On January 25, 2020 the Year of the Rat will commence. I was born in that year, so I'm eager to see what that Year will bring. Last time we had the Year of the Rat, that was in 2008. I'm not going to discuss what happened that year, The Universe is lurking!
Rat years tend to be the time of financial change. I'm hoping next year we'll see even more uptake of cryptocurrency as people embrace the decentralised power of the blockchain versus the centralised control of digital currencies.
I'm going hard out to accumulate as much crypto as I can over the next 12 months, in the hope we'll have strong performances in crypto over that time. Why wait until Bitcoin and altcoins go up in value before you commit? Just doesn't make sense to me. Now is the time, now is our time!
So, if you are not a member of the Steem community, why?
I mean, Steem has so much more potential than any other platform, be that social media, fourth estate, forums, financial, legal and so much more. Steem is fast becoming all of these, with each interest group forming their own awesome tribe and then engaging across tribes. Also, our Steem activity gets rewarded in a variety of altcoins. Join Steem and make money!
This time of year is also the time to make plans going forward. Please do this: plan to make plans! Set aside 2-3 hours one day over the holidays to sit down and write on paper or type into a spreadsheet your plans. Short-term 3-6 months, medium term 1-2 years, and long-term 5+ years and get these down so you can review them every few weeks and monitor progress.
Without plans, you're wasting your time and every one else you engage with. Planning is absolutely critical for the survival of your business. In fact, I reckon from my own experience that the main reason why people quit is simply through lack of planning and review. Are you a quitter?
My own plans are based on a simple premise: get busy, then get busier!
When setting your plans, consider the outcomes: what do you want to achieve? Remember my motto: dream big, then dream bigger! Your outcomes need to reflect whom you are now, and where you want to be in five years time. If your goals are too easily attainable, you'll end up feeling down when you really should pushing on. Set high goals, ones that you can get to that require effort. In that way, reaching your goals will be much more satisfying, and will encourage you to take aim for even higher goals. Become a doer, and take action!
