According to the LibertyX cryptomate operator, three Tesla enterprises have devices with BTC purchase function. However, Ilon Mask doubted this information.
Will Reeves, CEO of the Fold payment platform, wrote on Saturday on Twitter that a cryptomat is installed at the Tesla gig factory. However, the general manager of Tesla, Elon Musk, doubted this statement.
"I think this is inaccurate information," Musk wrote on Twitter.
Soon, a cryptomate operator, LibertyX, confirmed the launch of three cryptomats at three Tesla gigantic factories in the United States. The confusion seems to have arisen because the cryptomats in question were originally not specialized devices for buying and selling cryptovolves.
According to a LibertyX employee, until recently these were ordinary ATMs. Once the ATMs are installed, they can be upgraded to support additional functions such as buying bitcoins.
"Yes, it is true. We have modernized three regular ATMs so that you can buy bitcoins through them. They are only available to employees and will probably be available to visitors when the giga factories reopen for excursions," wrote the LibertyX_Chris user on Reddit.
Now you can buy a BTC through the device with a commission of 8%. So far, only the purchase option is available, but this may change in the future. "I hope that we will soon announce the addition of the BTC sale option", - added the LibertyX employee.
According to LibertyX CEO Chris Yim, the modernization of ATMs took place just a few months ago. This may explain why Musk is not aware of the situation. LibertyX reports in Twitter:
"Ilon, 0.25 BTC - too little (ed. - earlier Musk stated that he owns only 0.25 BTC). Now you can buy bitcoins in three cryptomats at Giga Factories, you don't even have to leave the office".
At the beginning of the year, Ilon Mask said he didn't consider himself a supporter of cryptovoltaics, but acknowledged the thoughtfulness of the Bitcoin White Paper.
