Bitcoin and Ether are crashing!

Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization is having a really bad time. It fell to its lowest price of 2018 on Monday. At the moment of writing this post, 1 Ether was trade :

This cryptocurrency fell below $300 dollars for the first time since November 12, 2017, according to CoinDesk's Ethereum Price Index (EPI). According to the web site CoinMarketCap.com, Ether is the biggest loser among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization and is reporting a 7-day loss of 28.33 percent. Its individual market capitalization also fell by more than $10 billion within that period. Ether is down 78% from its all-time high of $1,337.

According to CoinDesk price data, ether was trading at $289.96 exactly one year ago.

Ether is not alone in the sinking ship. .As you can see in the following chart, Bitcoin considered the most important cryptocurrency is also crashing. At his moment, one Bitcoin is equivalent to USD$6,032.43, however, the price of bitcoin fell below $6,000 on Tuesday, a move that brought the world's largest cryptocurrency within 2% of its 2018 low (i.e., $5,785 in June 24).
