The above image was made by @amberjyang with Midjourney using a variation of the prompt 'different roads going left and right, , arrows pointing different directions, road disappears, with the words "RSTORY" on the road, holographic prism.'

Recently I sketched out a few plausible scenarios for Rstory's future. These scenarios explore the influence that two variables might have on the project's growth trajectory. These variables are crypto community participation and mainstream participation. Here I've created character profiles to explore how different kinds of project participants might fare in each of the scenarios. Note that I used GPT-4o to assist with these profiles.

Liquidity Provider - Emily Ross

Emily is an experienced liquidity provider with a deep understanding of decentralized finance (DeFi). She has participated in numerous projects and is always looking for opportunities to earn yields and provide stability to promising tokens. For Emily, Rstory represents a unique challenge due to its unusual tokenomics and dual-chain presence.

Scenarios

Low crypto community participation and low mainstream participation

A small group of outliers keep the fringe project alive.

The crypto community had bigger and more profitable ventures to develop. Average people proved unwilling to create their own crypto wallets. By the end of 2025, only a few hundred wallets held the token. It was 2027 before the project reached a thousand users. Despite low rates of participation, the Rstory network filled a niche. It showcased some of the creativity that was getting pushed out of the centralized web.

Jessica

Jessica finds herself part of a small, close-knit community of Rstory users. She values the token not for its price but for the access it grants her to unique, uncensored literature. The sense of exclusivity appeals to her, and she becomes a vocal advocate for Rstory within her literary circles, helping to sustain the project despite its niche status.

Sam

Sam sees Rstory as an obscure but valuable tool for his publishing operation. He uses Rstory to publish works that are too controversial for mainstream platforms, knowing that his audience will find and appreciate them. This scenario allows Sam to continue his work on the fringes, sustaining his business with a dedicated base of loyal readers.

David

David finds Rstory to be an interesting project but is frustrated by the lack of community engagement and resources. Despite this, he develops a few small dapps that cater to the niche Rstory community. His focus is on creating tools that help users manage and exchange their tokens, but the limited user base makes it hard for his work to gain traction.

Emily

Emily sees Rstory as a high-risk, low-reward project in this scenario. However, she decides to provide liquidity on Uniswap, believing in the project’s long-term potential. While the returns are modest, she benefits from the low competition and establishes herself as one of the few reliable liquidity providers for Rstory. Her involvement helps keep the project alive during its early, challenging days.

Low crypto community participation and high mainstream participation

Publishers get on board, led by independent media.

While the crypto community largely ignored Rstory, the project's media product access model attracted large numbers of average people eager to access high quality digital content more simply and affordably. One by one, independent media outlets began adopting Rstory to get around censorship and explore the new revenue model. Then, in 2026, a major streaming platform began making its offerings available to Rstory holders as well as paying customers. The project's popularity exploded. Through all of this, Rstory's tokenomics were wildly unpredictable. Volatility was high and it was almost as if no one at all was managing Rstory's token market presence.

Jessica

As Rstory gains traction among independent media outlets, Jessica’s world expands. Suddenly, she has access to a broader range of content, including audio and video that aligns with her tastes. Jessica thrives in this environment, becoming a content curator as well as a creator, recommending Rstory-backed media to her ever-growing online following. She benefits from the increased mainstream attention, enjoying a more diverse and rich selection of media, and even begins exploring web dev by creating and maintaining an interactive index of the most popular Rstory pages.

Sam

As mainstream media outlets begin to adopt Rstory, Sam experiences a boom in his publishing business. He starts collaborating with other independent publishers and media outlets to create a network of content accessible through Rstory. This allows him to reach a much larger audience, and the simplicity of the Rstory tokenomics appeals to both him and his readers. Sam thrives in this environment, expanding his business and influence.

David

As Rstory gains mainstream attention, David shifts his focus to developing dapps that can integrate with existing media platforms. He creates tools that make it easier for publishers and content creators to distribute their work via Rstory. His work gains recognition beyond the crypto community, and he starts collaborating with larger media companies, helping them transition into the blockchain space.

Emily

As Rstory gains mainstream popularity, Emily’s role as a liquidity provider becomes more lucrative. The increased demand for the token leads to higher trading volumes, allowing her to earn substantial yields. Emily becomes a key figure in the Rstory market, ensuring stability and liquidity for new users entering the ecosystem.

High crypto community participation and low mainstream participation

The token takes off, but no one knows what it's for.

Intrigued by the project's model, blockchain developers created a wide variety of Rstory dapps. Some of these became moderately popular, attracting thousands of users. The token's market presence was small but stable. Mainstream adoption was low, partly because the project never managed to communicate effectively with average people. At the same time, Rstory did attract the kinds of people that the mainstream actively suppressed. The project provided a refuge for this group yet never achieved widespread popularity.

Jessica

In this scenario, Jessica is somewhat overwhelmed by the influx of blockchain enthusiasts into the Rstory ecosystem. While she appreciates the increased variety of dapps and content available, she misses the simplicity and intimacy of the project's earliest stages. However, she still finds a place by focusing on the content she loves and ignoring the noise of the broader crypto community.

Sam

Sam becomes a prominent figure within the crypto community, using Rstory to publish works that appeal to the more technically inclined audience. While he longs for mainstream appeal, he finds that the crypto community’s enthusiasm for innovation leads to exciting collaborations and new forms of media that would not be possible in the traditional publishing world.

David

In this scenario, David thrives. The high level of crypto community participation means there is a constant demand for new dapps and tools. David becomes a central figure in the Rstory developer community, leading projects that push the boundaries of what the network makes possible. He also helps organize developer meetups and hackathons, contributing to the growth and innovation within the Rstory ecosystem.

Emily

In this scenario, Emily focuses on the crypto community’s involvement with Rstory. The token’s stable market presence and steady demand among blockchain enthusiasts make it an attractive option for liquidity provision. Emily collaborates with other liquidity providers to create innovative DeFi products, such as blockchain collaboration and insurance contracts. Her expertise helps maintain the token’s liquidity, even without mainstream adoption.

High crypto community participation and high mainstream participation

Legacy economy instabilities drive many to use Rstory.

A perfect storm of political, social, and economic forces turned Rstory from a micro token into a sensation. Alternative media adopted the tech to skirt censorship. Then a major news service integrated the token in a desperate bid to generate new revenue. Soon, Rstory was replacing tickets at concerts and other events. This rapid growth produced high volatility and a series of conflicts within the community for control over the direction of the project. These conflicts were ultimately resolved by creating better methods of decentralized governance.

Jessica

Jessica becomes a content influencer in the Rstory ecosystem, with her recommendations driving traffic to the coolest media outlets and dapps. She is excited by the growing importance of Rstory in everyday transactions, including event tickets and perpetual subscriptions. The decentralized governance model allows her and others in her community to have a voice in the network's future, ensuring it continues to feed her literary cravings.

Sam

In this scenario, Sam becomes a leader in the decentralized publishing revolution. He is at the forefront of using Rstory not just for publishing but for creating new business models that include fractional equity venture contracts and decentralized distribution networks. The rapid growth of Rstory and the establishment of decentralized governance allow him to influence the direction of the project, ensuring that it remains a haven for independent publishers like himself.

David

David finds himself in the middle of a booming ecosystem where both the crypto community and mainstream users are heavily involved. He plays a key role in the development of Rstory’s infrastructure, working on projects that support the token's integration into everyday life. The decentralized governance model allows him to propose and implement changes that benefit the broader community, making him a respected leader in the Rstory project’s ongoing evolution.

Emily

Emily finds herself at the center of a thriving and volatile market. With both the crypto community and mainstream users heavily involved, liquidity provision for Rstory becomes both challenging and highly rewarding. The rapid growth of the project leads to significant price fluctuations, but Emily’s experience allows her to navigate these waters effectively. She plays a crucial role in stabilizing the market during periods of high volatility, ensuring that Rstory remains a viable and attractive token for users across both the EOS and Ethereum blockchains.
