Thank you to everyone who participated in my contest!
The contest is officially over and I am pleased to announce the winners!
It was a tough decision!
I have spent the last two days trying to decide which person to choose as the winner. We had a few entries that were funny, a few who sort of got into the spirit of things and two who really got into the spirit of what the contest was about.
The main goal was to get people to think outside of the box. It really didn't matter what the item you found was, it could have been any one of a thousand different things. But we have been taught that there is one way to use an item and if you need to do something else, you need to go buy a different tool.
In a survival situation, you can't run to the store and buy another tool. Whatever you have with you and whatever you can find is what you have to make do with.
No one came up with the main idea I thought of
In my mind, you would probably want to keep the spatula as close to normal as possible unless a situation arose where you have no choice but make drastic changes to it. After all, it was originally designed as a cooking implement and it is still good for that, in more ways than what we normally use them.
With just a rock to rub it on, the spatula end could be sharpened to help you cut food or use as a weapon if someone attacked. With a simple piece of string, it could be used to prop a box up on the handle end, put a little bread, seeds, flowers or whatever under the box and hide nearby with the string, waiting on a bird or small animal to walk under the box. Pull the string to trap the animal inside and have lunch.
How do I pick between two people who came up with GREAT idea?
I have been trying for two days to choose and I can't choose. They are both very good. So, I am adding another SBD to the pot and splitting it between them. Both @chekohler and @mother2chicks have already been paid 2 SBD each. They truly got into the spirit of the contest and came up with a list of ideas.
Thank you again for participating!
