In what I think is a first for the Steem(it) community, @jackpurcell38 has joined Steemit.

Purcell is also a prolific trading cards artists, and recently published his first creator-owned graphic novel, Malice and Mistletoe.
While to many this may seem like a minor thing, something just for comics fanboys to drool over, that is misunderstanding the comics community in this era of social media.
Many comics artists are very active on social media and benefit large following. This is a historic thing, as comics have always done very well online and many artists have found ways to (finally) become published artists thanks to the democratic medium that is the Internet [ugh, yes I just wrote that]. Whether that was via a self-hosted webcomic, or a DeviantArt and later LiveJournal account, comics have a place in the history of the Internet.
Currently most top comics artists maintain very active Twitter and Instagram accounts, most of them also being verified Twitter users. What is particularly awesome about the social media comics scene is that artists, and also the publishers even, actively connect and engage with fans.
A perfect spirit for Steem as well. The perfect spirit for Steem.
Additionally, ever since joining the Internet comics artists have also often shared so-called WIP [Work in Progress] with their fanbase via social media. Comics review and news sites often aggregating and curation the WIPs shared that day/week.
As a Steemian, and a fan of comics, I hope @jackpurcell38 is one of many comics artist to come. More so, I hope that those who join will quickly understand the need to engage with the Steem community but more so even to publish original to Steem, or Steem first, shares.
If they do, not only will they benefit not unrespectable financial perks from doing so, but they will also contribute to additional, new momentum for the Steem ecosystem.

ADDENDUM: Jack confirmed his account by replying on Twitter. While his account isn’t verified, it’s the same account used to announce signing appearances.
