The Gilbert Gottfried Experience

The Gilbert Gottfried Experience.

Follow each of the links in the text below for hours the BEST Gilbert moments on the Internet. Enjoy.

Gilbert Gottfried: The Man, the Myth, the Legend. If you just got a recent reminder about the person behind the exaggerated shrill voice from his special: "Gilbert", Gilbert Gottfried has been around the show business circuit over 40 years. Most know him as the voice of the parrot from Disney's Aladdin, but before that Gilbert was making a living on his off-brand of comedy very early on.

Why even care?

Listen to enough Gilbert and you will master the not so subtle art of not giving a fuck. Desire the confidence to anything in front of anyone, GIlbert can show you how. The Howard Stern show was probably the best forum for Gilbert to express himself. He would routinely mock and impersonate anyone, once Leaving a 20minute insult on Jerry Seinfeld's answering machine other races, his own religion and yours. Not laughing at him? Good. he will keep trying until he has satisfied himself. Privately on a drive with him as your passenger and with NO audience, Or
the unreal story of when he was
opening up for Belinda Carlisle and telling cunt jokes to a family audience. Even while Rome is burning, there is no stopping Gilbert until he is done. If the internet was a room he would empty it and still do his dated act and laugh for himself. Again, Gilbert is true to himself, audience or not, he is who he is, he doesn't give a fuck. That is his magic.

At the pinnacle of his career he was banned from the Emmy's for a masturbation joke, After "bombing" (I think he killed) at the Hugh Hefnor roast with some 9/11 material (just three weeks after the attacks), instead of giving up he launches into the longest and filthiest joke known to comedy: The Aristocrats. "Don't fear it, lean into it", seems to be the motto for Gilbert. Marinade in the awkward sauce. Slather it on and sit. Fired by Aflac, miracle whip, and other gigs due to his working blue, it has taken some longer than others to figure out Gilbert might tell some "dirty jokes".

Gilbert will take a character voice like his Dracula or Many Jewish (sometimes black) Rabbis, or the Jewish lifeguard turn Dracula in "Son of a Beach"and Dice (clay) Gottfried " and use it to nauseam. Listen to his Groucho Marx or George Jessel enough and you will at least laugh at him for trying impression that our grandparents MIGHT still get. That's his genius though. It stops being funny (or never was to begin with), hr piles it on, then the lack of funny brings it back again to be funny. For some he may be an annoyance but to me it's gold.

Not funny? NO PROBLEM. Gilbert can be annoying anywhere. Corporate functions, Gathering of the Juggalos and TV shows alike, with his in-humor Gilbert takes over any show he's on. His force is unmatched with an energy that keeps everyone interested and at least giving a reaction (isn't that the purpose of art?). Local news appearances he knows to break down the line, or zig-zag across it for sport like George Takei's epically homophobic Friar's club roast .

And that is Gilbert. He is not a bigot, a racist, a xenophobe. If you cant listen past the words being used and get the point being made, he is not the comic for you. Well, that and if you like things that are actually funny.

A Final Treat. Have you ever heard Gilbert's real voice?

I credit Howard Stern with being the only person who could really put Gilbert at his best. SOOOO Many great moments if you go out to them on youtube. But this gem comes from a voicemail left on BabaBooeys voicemail: Gilbert Gottfrieds Real Voice.
